When I do a reading, I try to think of the cards through three different angles: Material/physical, emotional and finally spiritual. When I come to pick the fool (I usually only read for myself), most of what I have is a feeling of movement. Where is the fool heading to materially/emotionally/spiritually, what is he leaving? I usually find my answer to this card after asking myself these questions.

The fool is optimistic and open to life, like someone who has 'no emotional baggage'. Not marred by thoughts/experience of danger he is fearless, adventurous. Situations can still move in any direction when the fool appears. Going where the wind takes you. Impulsive. The first steps of a journey.
